Stackable Felt Animal Pack
Stackable Felt Animal Pack
Get ready to unleash your creativity with this fun and simple tutorial on making a pack of felt animals! This craft is perfect for bringing joy to your little ones and sparking family creativity.
This project began as inspiration to celebrate my daughter’s ninth birthday and her love for foxes, I decided to create a pack of felt foxes for her to play with. I experimented with different ways to fold and form the felt, capturing the fox’s features while maintaining a minimalist style. Some foxes were made using a combination of 3mm 100% Wool Designer Felt and Acrylic Craft Felt sheets, while others were made using only Acrylic Craft Felt sheets. The colors can be anything and everything you heart desires. The Felt Store has multiple variety packs available as well as beautiful array of 100% Designer Wool Felts. I mentioned the remnant sale in my last blog post, which is a great time to stock up on variety of colors in smaller quantities.
Above all, these little creatures are incredibly versatile! You can use them as fall décor, gift holders, or stackable toys. The pattern can easily be adapted to create various animals. For instance, slightly changing the body shape and ear size can transform the fox into an alligator, or you can add a trunk to create an elephant with larger ears.
What You Will Need:

Instructions:
- Print the Templates: Begin by printing out the provided template for the fox pattern. Adjust the size in the printer settings as needed to fit your materials.
- Cut Out the Paper Pattern Pieces and Pin onto Felt: Pin the paper cutouts onto your felt. Carefully cut out the felt pieces using sharp scissors or an X-Acto knife on a cutting mat. Cut the thicker felt first to use as a guide when cutting the final shapes.
Tip: An X-Acto knife offers more control, especially when cutting the thicker felt (3mm or 5mm).
- Assign Color Combinations: Choose two colors for each animal shape. Use bright colors to create vibrant combinations or more subdued browns for more accurate forest creatures.
- Glue Your Colors Together: Take the thicker felt, apply glue evenly on one side, and place it onto a contrasting color felt. Let it dry overnight.
- If your animal base is 3mm Designer Felt, you only need one layer of 1.2mm Wool or Acrylic Craft Felt.
- If your animal base is Acrylic Craft Felt, glue at least three layers together for necessary rigidity.
- Glue Feet Together and Form the Features: Once your layers have dried, cut out the final shape. Place a bit of glue at the tip of each leg and place the other leg over it. Use small binder clips to secure the legs while the glue dries.
6. Add Details: Use smaller pieces of felt to add eyes, a nose, and other features. You can also sew these details for added durability. This could be a fun task for the kids to personalize each animal.
Whether you stick to the fox pattern or create other animals, these felt creatures will bring joy and charm to any space. They make wonderful decorations, thoughtful gifts, and delightful toys.
