DIY Felt Banana Snake - a Cobranana!

Hello, December! Amy here from @MikelMichelleCo! It’s time for mistletoe and snow…or where I’m from palm trees and sunshine, but like- the holiday version. If you’re cozying up with some hot cocoa and avoiding the elements while thinking warm thoughts, I’ve got an adorably tropical DIY tutorial to help you out! Whether this handcrafted gift will be traveling or already in its new home you’ll feel the warmth it exudes. Please, join me in making a festively tropical delight- a "Cobranana".
Materials:
- Wool Blend Craft Felt in the following colors:
- Polyester fiberfill
- 6mm safety eyes
- Pipe cleaners (20 inch)
- Scissors
- Thread
- Needle
- Pliers
- PDF Pattern (found below)

Downloadable PDF Pattern:

Instructions:
- Print the pattern onto cardstock and cut out stencils.
- Trace and cut out the Snake Main Body (2 pieces) and Face (1 piece) in Vanilla, as well as the Snake Hood/Peel in Light Yellow (1 piece) and Yellow (1 piece).
- Fold the Face piece in half and place a pin to mark the hallway point. Use this to pin the Face piece to the Snake Main Body piece and sew the two pieces together along the upper portion of the Face piece using quilt stitch. Continue by sewing the Face piece to the bottom Snake Main Body piece.
Tip: Make sure the eye holes are oriented at the top.

- Secure the safety eyes and snip the backs a little shorter to ensure that they don’t push against each other.

- Sew along the length of the Snake Main Body stopping past the tail end. Twist the two 20 inch pipe cleaners together. Then continue to sew along the Snake Main Body while inserting the pipe cleaner and polyester fiberfill as you close your seam. Snip the twisted pipe cleaners to the correct length just before tucking them into the head.
Tip: Add a little fluff in the tail tip and head prior to inserting the pipe cleaners.

- Next, pin the Snake Hood/Peel pieces together along the length of the tail and cut along the center from the tail end towards the hood, stopping about ¼ inch below the hood.

- Remove the pins and quilt stitch each piece of the Snake Hood/Peel separately along the back seam while making sure to stop short, leaving the 2 end tails of the Peel unconnected. Match up the two Snake Hood/Peel pieces to ensure the back seams are the same length. Then quilt stitch the two pieces of the hood together starting at the base of the hood.
Tip: Make sure the hood is oriented/flipped correctly to fit on top of the completed Snake Main Body.

- Now anchor the Snake Hood/Peel to the Snake Main Body beginning with the head. Once the hood is stitched in place around the top edge of the face tie a knot to complete that area. Next, begin below the hood by stitching the peel in place to the Snake Main Body. Then continue anchor stitching the Snake Main Body, alternating sides while working down the length of the tail until complete.

And done! Now you can bend and reposition your Cobranana to your liking. I hope you enjoyed making your fun fruity friend. Warm thoughts and happy holiday wishes!
